Four Seasons Bartender Job Description

Summary of Job Function

The Four Seasons Bartender plays a major role in our guests' dining and/or bar experience.  Consistency is a key element in  delivering exceptional customer service. The Four Seasons Bartender understands the importance of providing an engaging environment by being friendly, outgoing and possessing good communication skills.  A great bartender should be organized and able to think and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Welcome each guest personally within 30 seconds.
  2. Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language at all times. Make guests feel appreciated through actions. 
  3. Work as a team with all Four Seasons employees to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food & beverage service.
  4. Work with others to keep all areas cleaned as required by the local health department and well stocked.
  5. Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in agreement with Four Seasons standards.
  6. Wash and sterilize glassware.
  7. Be attentive. Offer assistance before the guest has to ask for it.
  8. Anticipate your guest's needs. Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, making eye contact, etc.) and acknowledge the guest to let them know you will be right with them.
  9. Learn the guest's names, occupations and favorite drinks. This will make Four Seasons a special place to them.
  10. Serve alcohol responsibly. Should a guest reach the state where the bartender does not feel the guest should drive, offer to supply a taxi.  Do not hesitate to ask for management intervention if necessary.
  11. Maintain an accurate cash drawer throughout the night and be able to account for any and all discrepancies in the final drawer tally.
  12. Mix all drinks based on the serving sizes as the recipe descriptions and keep drink costs at a minimum.
  13. Perform other duties as directed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must maintain an applicable state health and/or alcohol compliance card
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Excellent people leadership and guest service skills required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team members and Above Restaurant Leaders
  • Ability to resolves issues in compliance with Four Seasons
  • Available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable transportation
  • Effective Planner & Organizer

Education and Experience

  • Local state and Parish bar card required prior to employment
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience working in a bar / restaurant
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine and spirits, and familiarity with standard drink recipes.

Physical Demands

  • Walk and/or stand during entire shift.
  • Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe.
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time.
  • Frequently wash hands.
  • Be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Be able to manipulate fingers, hands and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry, and wipe.
  • Be able to hear and speak well.
  • Good close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus between the two.
  • This position regularly requires long hours and frequent night and weekend work.
